Before you sculpt, the most important skill is learning to see the form of your subject. Understanding form helps you translate 3D objects into clay accurately, keeping proportions and volumes realistic.
If you don’t grasp the underlying shapes of your subject, your sculpture may look flat, distorted, or unbalanced. Think of it as laying a strong foundation before building a house — without it, everything else becomes harder.
Once you’re comfortable seeing form in simple objects, we’ll move on to Lesson 2: Understanding Different Types of Clay. This will help you choose the right material for your sculpture.
